Having four different kinds of debt, I was completely unsure about how to go about clearing the debts. With the help of PocketGuard's Debt Payoff Plan, I was able to visualize how to go about clearing my debt, including which one to clear first, the amount to pay, and when. That date on the screen was the motivation I didn't know I needed.

I love that I can adjust my monthly budget and instantly see how it changes my payoff timeline. Threw an extra $150 at it last month and shaved off three months. Game changer for staying motivated.

Finally a plan that's built around what I can actually afford. It pulled in all my accounts, I picked the avalanche strategy, and it just… figured everything out. I've been debt-free for two months now, and it started right here.

A debt payoff plan is a debt repayment schedule that details what, how much, and when to pay off each debt until the balances are eliminated. It is designed with your monthly budget and a selected strategy and becomes a predictable repayment process instead of a guess.
Using a calculator, you can get numbers: totals, dates, interest. However, a complete debt payoff plan goes beyond that – it prioritizes your accounts, fits them into your budget, and provides you with monthly tracking. One is a snapshot, the other is a system that is on-going.
If you need motivation and early successes, select snowball, which will remove the smallest balances first. If it is important to minimise total interest they are paying, then choose avalanche, which will pay off the highest APR first. Both work; the one you will stick with is the best.
That's starting with paying off all minimum payments, which is a no-brainer. Then add any money that is left over in your budget. Make an extra payment on the debt with the highest interest rate, cut unneeded expenses, and don't add on new debt – even a little extra here and there can have a significant impact on your time frame. PocketGuard displays the effect of every budget change as they go.
In either case, your payoff date gets further away and the amount of interest you pay rises. Avoid penalties and harm a credit score by simply making the minimum payment. Your repayment schedule will also automatically be updated in PocketGuard, and you get to adjust your budget without having to start all over again.
The 50/30/20 rule divides your net income into 3 categories – 50% goes to your needs, 30% to your wants, and 20% to your savings and debt. That 20% is the place to make some solid advancement – hopefully more than just the minimum payment due on your most critical balance.
